In a nutshell, Toastmasters international is a network of clubs all around the world, where you can practice your communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
If you look at Toastmasters broadly, it is a training program that you use to grow at your own pace and own focus – you can choose among 11 different learning focuses.
The organization itself is almost 100 years old and here you will find a perfect blend of approaches that worked throughout the years and newest trends in terms of skills and delivery methods.
You can also see the Toastmasters platform as a 'playground' – a place where you can try new things without fear of being judged in case of failure.

Brigita is the first president of our club (2019-2020). Here are her reasons for being a Toastmaster and serving as a board member:
"Warm and relaxed yet professional atmosphere at meetings give me a chance to practice and enhance communication and leadership skills. The worldwide recognized educational system offers many challenges and learning opportunities. To serve as a board officer gives me the opportunity to shape and develop the Toastmasters Community in Slovenia and to help members get the most of what Toastmasters is offering in order to achieve their personal and career goals. Being part of the Toastmasters International also enables me to extend my network. Like-minded people with different backgrounds, experiences and different ‘modus operandi’ from all over the world expanded my horizons and agility.
Toastmasters is a great experience and it boosted my professional career as well. I would recommend it to everyone who would like to change, grow and lead. Hope to see you soon in one of the next Toastmasters events."

*DTM stands for Distinguished Toastmasters Member and is the highest award one can achieve within the Toastmasters International program.

Being a part of the leadership board of the Toastmasters Business club in 2021/2022, Mateja Lumpert has this to say about her journey in Toastmasters:
''I joined the Toastmasters business club because I wanted to improve my public speaking skills. However, I soon realised that I did not just join a learning program, I joined a community, which supports and encourages members on their personal path. This year, I volunteered as a treasurer in the club leadership team and I'm responsible for the club’s bank account, paying bills and annual financial report.''

''At the beginning of 2021, I have joint the Toastmasters community mostly to develop my communication skills. As I started to attend the meetings, I realised that this community could offer me much more than just development of communication skills. With the help of the Toastmasters community, I started to also develop skills like active listening, giving feedback, and leadership.
To start developing real leadership, and organisational skills I decided to become a part of the Toastmasters Business Club leadership team. As I was new to the community and leadership team, I decided to take up the role of Sergeant at arms. I believe this is a perfect role to learn more about the Toastmasters club, its organisation, and the community. I hope I will be able to contribute to the development of the Toastmasters Business Club and the Toastmasters community.''

No wonder why Toastmasters is a way of life for me - and this is how I give back and am a volunteer for over a decade: by supporting the community, serving as an officer to support all the members and being an evangelist of self-development within TM world."

Attitude and state of mind impact nearly every facet of our lives. Focusing on the positive is an integral part of achieving success, engaging and trustful relationships, innovation and fostering growth on individual and organizational level.
Humans are social beings and communication is an integral part of all human societies.
Without the concept of communication, either verbal or non-verbal, human beings are just individuals with no understanding of each other and their surroundings.
